The first Earth Day 22 April 1970, when over 20 million people poured on to the US streets to demand protection for our planet’s environment, in what still remains the largest single-day protest in all human history.

Held annually, Earth Day is now the world’s largest environmental campaign, with up to one billion people now taking action to protect planet earth.

The theme of Earth Day 2021 is Restore Our Earth. This year’s three-day event (20-22 April) will focus on the ever-growing climate emergency, with activities taking place virtually in light of ongoing global Covid-19 restrictions.

The three days of climate action are due to begin on 20 April, including a global youth climate summit featuring young climate activists and an education summit highlighting the role teachers play in fighting climate change.

Therefore, the question is, “What can I do?” Now you may be thinking, “not a lot”, and yes, significant change needs to come from governments and large corporations, but each of us can make a difference. At Electric Bike Sales, We truly believe the people who can make the biggest

So here are some easy ways to make every day an Earth Day.

Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Cut down on what you throw away. Cut down on single-use plastic, follow the three “R’s” to conserve natural resources and reduce landfill waste.

Clean Up. Don’t forget to take home and recycle your rubbish and, if possible, collect any other litter around you.
Volunteer. Volunteer for cleanups in your community.
Educate. When you further your education, you can help teach others the importance and value of the planets natural resources.
Save water. Using less water creates less runoff and waste that eventually end up in the ocean.

Choose non-toxic. Use non-toxic chemicals in the home and office. Don’t send chemicals into our waterways.
Choose sustainable. Make smart food choices, buy fair trade products with recyclable packaging, and if possible, grow your own veg.
Shop wisely. Bring a reusable shopping bag, and buy less plastic.
Purchase Mindfully. Use companies and products that prioritise the environment.
Use Energy-efficient light bulbs. Long-lasting light bulbs reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and when you leave the room, flip the light switch off!
Plant a tree. Trees provide oxygen and food. They help capture carbon, save energy, clean the air, and help combat climate change.
Drive less. Bike more.
