If you’re looking for an affordable and reliable electric cargo trike, Aitour Ebikes is a great option and this is why we stock them as an afordable alternative to Babboe.

How do Aitour eCargo trikes compare to Babboe eCargo trikes

Aitour and Babboe are two popular brands of electric bikes. Both brands offer a wide range of models to choose from, so it can be difficult to decide which one is right for you. Here is a comparison of the two brands to help you make your decision (direct comparison of 2 similar models – Aitour Family C versus Babboe Curve Mountain):

Price

Aitour bikes are generally more affordable than Babboe bikes. However, there is a wide range of prices for both brands, so you can find a model that fits your budget.

Range

Aitour eCargo Trikes typically have a longer range than Babboe bikes offering a 643Wh (family C) lithium battery compared to the Babboe 500Wh (Curve Mountain). However, the range of both brands varies depending on the model you choose.

Performance

Aitour Family C trike uses the Ananda M100 mid drive capable of 120Nm of turning force compared to the Babboe Curve Mountain using the Yamaha PW-X motor with 70Nm of turning force. Ananda will be a new name to most however they have been making eBike drive units for over 15 years and hailing from Taiwan (manufactured in China) they are known for their quality drive systems, although we always have to take any super high torque claim with a pinch of salt especially when combined with a Shimano Nexus 7 hub. It is likely that the Ananda M100 motor is not being used to it’s full potential – which is likely to help reliability over the long term. The Yamaha motor on the Babboe is as tried and tested as possible with a long history of happy customers and reliable service.

Design & Comfort

Both Babboe and Aitour use simple designs and natural finishes and offer a range of accessories to complete the trike for a personalised look, feel and purpose. The selection of accessories are fairly similar including rain tents, cushions, baby support, other soft furnishings. In terms of safety both use multi point seat belts and hydraulic brakes. Stainless steel fixings are used throughout for resilience to UK weather.

Maintenance

Aitour trikes use Shimano Nexus 7 speed hub gears with a gear ratio of 244% compared to Babboe trikes that use the Enviolo hub with a gear ratio of 380%. Both use enclosed chain drives and come with mid level puncture protection in the tyres.

Warranty

Both Aitour and Babboe trikes come with a 2 years warranty except on consummables such as tyres, brake pads, chains, sprockets etc.

Customer service

Aitour and Babboe both have excellent customer service. However since Brexit Babboe have struggled to fulfill UK orders and support. Aitour are new to the UK but are opening their own warehouse and service centre to support their products in the UK market.

Overall

Aitour bikes are a great option for those who are looking for an affordable and reliable electric bike. Babboe bikes are a great option for those who are looking for a known brand and do not mind waiting to get the trike they want. Ultimately, the best choice for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences.
