Babboe eCargo Bike and Trike Stop-Sale Notice, Do Not Use Notice and Recall

Dear valued customers,

We are reaching out to provide you with an important update regarding Babboe electric cargo bikes and trikes, specifically the Babboe City model, which has recently come under scrutiny due to frame safety concerns. As the exclusive UK distributor, Raleigh Bikes and we, your trusted local retailer, are closely monitoring the situation to ensure your safety and satisfaction.

The latest communicated update from Raleigh:

Babboe prepares recall in the United Kingdom for the CITY, CITY E, MINI and MINI E cargo bike models 

Following the release of communications in the Netherlands and Germany, we would like to draw your attention to the Babboe update shared on their consumer website regarding other territories.

‘We would like to give you a brief update. We have now been able to inform customers and dealers in the Netherlands and Germany about the recall, the compensation and the approach. In other countries, discussions with local authorities are still taking place. As soon as we have reached an agreement, you will be informed about the solution for your cargo bike.’

While the next steps of the safety notice and recall process has been confirmed in the Netherlands and Germany, bikes purchased in the UK are still subject to the same request, to stop riding and submit frame numbers and contact details at www.checkyourframe.co.uk

Rest assured, we are working hard with local authorities and Babboe to confirm the process here in the UK. We hope to provide an update on the next steps for the UK in the near future.

“The research shows that in the Netherlands the models listed below may be used again after an inspection/repair. You can use the check my frame link above from April 10th.”

In the Netherlands and Germany these inspections will be offered at your home and compensation will be offered.

We also advise against using these models for the time being.

Babboe will be offering replacements and alternative electric bikes and compensation. They ask for patience while they make all of the arrangements.

WHAT NEXT?

We believe that there will be a UK site for you to register your bike or trike and following this Babboe or their representatives will be in touch.

It is currently not clear what role your local electric bike shop will play. Ofcourse we are here to help with any queries or concerns that you may have.

Babboe has committed to replacing the frame parts of affected bikes free of charge, ensuring that your cargo bike or trike meets the high-quality standards set by the manufacturer​​​​.

  2. Contact Us: If your bike is on the affected list, please reach out to us directly. We will guide you through the next steps and ensure you receive the necessary support and information.
