The Yamaha Company is best known for its motorbike range; however, the Japanese firm is also the pioneering electric bikes leader. In 1993 Yamaha brought the very first electrically power assisted (PAS) to market. The idea of electrically assisted bicycles caught on and later spread worldwide, and today millions of ebikes are powered by Yamaha.
Yamaha constantly innovates and has just unveiled a whopping new 350 kW class high-performance electric motor that produces an incredible 469bhp. The system is intended for installation and use in hyper-EVs and other high-output applications.
They claim the new electric motor has an operating voltage of 800V, the industry’s “highest class in output density”. The output and density have been achieved through a new innovative compact design that integrates the gear and inverter into a single unit. The system is designed to allow for multiple units to be fitted to a single vehicle.
The 469bhp output would be among the highest currently available for a single electric motor.
Yamaha is already accepting orders for the unit’s prototype developments, both from car firms and other industries that require a high-output EV motor.
