Last week, Yamaha's president Eric de Seynes announced that Yamaha will launch three e-bikes under its own brand in the All Mountain, Gravel, and Urban segments. Yamaha plans to have the new e-bikes available by the end of 2022 through its Powered Two Wheeler network and the European distributor network will be completed by 2023. It is the next major step on the e-bike market after announcing the partnership with Indian Hero Cycles to open a hub motor factory in Ludhiana, India.

Original equipment manufacturer (OEM) Partners

Yamaha will continue to develop eBike systems for OEM partners such as Haibike and Babboe. As a major electric bike innovator, Yamaha has produced 7 million electric motors since 1993. Over 5 million e-bikes were sold in Europe last year, which shows how fast the market is growing. Over the next few years, 50% of all bicycles sold in Europe will be electric bicycles, according to recent studies. Yamaha plans to take its drive technology and know-how and integrate it into complete e-bikes which combine their motors with their well-known riding ability.

Today's market is evolving, and people are increasingly looking for products that are 100% Yamaha. Also, they wish to utilize the expertise and experience of the Yamaha dealers.

Yamaha B1 speed pedelec

Yamaha introduced the B01 to demonstrate our future potential for electric urban mobility in every category. This new hybrid prototype combines e-bike speed and pedelec functionality with moped performance for urban mobility.

Yamaha Motor Europe has created a concept model, B01, collaborating with long-term partners Fantic Motor and Motori Minarelli. Eric de Seynes expects production to begin within one year of this machine going into production, expanding Yamaha's electric mobility range even further. It was announced in Yamaha in 2020 that its e-bike production would move to Europe.

Yamaha Electric scooters

Yamaha Motor introduced two new electric scooters in addition to its e-bikes and the B1 speed pedelec.

NEO, the all-new "50cc-equivalent" electric scooter, was already on display as the E02 prototype at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. In addition, a 125cc-equivalent electric scooter derived from the E01 prototype was also unveiled at the Motor Show.

"We are excited to expand our personal mobility range and open a whole new chapter in the history of the company," concluded Eric de Seynes. Featuring Yamaha's world-class engineering capabilities and backed by Yamaha's dealer network, A new generation of customers will be inspired by Yamaha's electric products and services.
