The state-of-the-art Bosch rechargeable batteries are among the most efficient long-life energy source available on the eBike market.

The high-quality lithium-ion batteries combine impressive mileage, long life, and lightweight (approx. 2.5 to 2.8 kg) with an intelligent ergonomic design that makes for convenient handling. The battery management system detects significant potential error sources protecting cells from overload.

DualBattery system is the ideal solution for long-distance commuters, tourers and cargo bikers. The two Bosch batteries combined deliver up to 1,000 Wh; the system intelligently switches between the two batteries during charging and discharging.

What is the range of an electric bike battery?

This is one of the most common questions from budding eBikers. There is not a definitive answer as there are lots of factors to take into consideration. Depending on conditions and on how you ride, you may be able to ride well over 50 miles on a single charge. A few easy to follow tips can easily help maximise the range of the battery.

How do I extend the range of my eBike?

Cadence – Cadences (level of assistance from the motor) above 50 revolutions per minute optimises the efficiency of the drive unit. In contrast, very slow pedalling will use much more battery power.

Weight: Where possible, minimise the total weight of the eBike and luggage. As with driving, starting and stopping uses more power than long distances at a steady speed.

Changing gear: Correct gear shifting makes eBiking more efficient: It is best to start off and take hills in a low gear, then shift up to higher gears according to terrain and speed. The onboard computer provides gearing recommendations.

Tyre pressure: As we all know, pedalling a bike with flat tyres is really hard work Pro tip: To maximise the range, pump the tyres to the maximum permissible pressure.

Motor performance indicator: Keep on eye the Nyon, Intuvia and Kiox onboard computer and adapt your riding style accordingly. A long bar means higher power consumption.

Temperature: With colder temperatures, the efficiency of a rechargeable battery is reduced as the electrical resistance increases. In winter, expect a reduction in the normal range.

How to charge an eBike battery?

It would be best if you charge your electric bike battery at room temperature in a dry location. Fully charging and fully discharging results in higher battery loading, which will decrease the lifespan. Ideally, for lengthy periods of storage, 30 to 60% charge or two to three LEDs on the battery indicator.

During the winter (particularly below 0°C), we recommend charging and storing the battery at room temperature (avoid storing your battery at temperatures below 10°C and above 60°C) and inserting the battery in the eBike immediately before a ride. For longer journeys in cold weather, it is advisable to use thermal protective covers.

How much does it cost to charge an eBike?

A typical 500W capacity eBike battery will take around 4.5 hours to fully charge from empty when using a standard charger. As we have just mentioned, it’s best not to wait until your battery is completely empty before recharging. The price can vary depending on your electrical supplier, but you are typically looking at a rate of 10-15p/kWh. That works out to around 5-10p. Owning an eBike is not only an extremely cheap mode of transport but also an environmentally friendly one too!
