How to beat inflation and save thousands with an electric bike

Words by Stuart on 26/05/2022 19:10:00

ebikes beat the pump

You know, I know. The whole "Don't like petrol prices?" thing. Ride a bike!" It sounds annoying and is not practical for many people. But, if you didn't already know it, there's a fantastic alternative to pedal bikes: fun and energy-efficient electric bikes! As prices rise and fuel supply is uncertain, perhaps now is the best time to consider an electric bike.

That's awesome if you can pedal during your entire commute. Go for it! In reality, very few car commuters have the physical stamina or endurance to make the daily commute on an old-school 21-speed. But eBikes have seen incredible success in convincing drivers to switch to two wheels.

E-bikes make cycling more accessible, faster, and fun, transforming a long and arduous ride into a short, fast, and enjoyable one. Electric bikes have pedal assist, which gives you a helpful push while you provide a portion of the effort. Cycling is excellent for exercise, and electric bikes offer much of the exercise benefits of regular cycling but without arriving at work all hot and bothered.

Electric Bikes beat inflation

The savings at the pump are impressive. According to the RAC, the average petrol price is £1.74 and diesel £1.84. Which, as you know, will not get you very far in a car. But on an electric bike? That same £1.74 will take you hundreds of miles because eBikes are ridiculously cheap to charge, and they are incredibly efficient. You most likely won't even notice a difference in your electricity bill from owning an electric bike – they barely use any energy.

According to the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, motorists in the UK saw the steepest rise in fuel prices in over 18 years, and prices for petrol and diesel could rise to as much as £2.50 a litre.

With this in mind, people are increasingly looking for more budget-friendly ways to commute, whether it's through carpooling, public transportation, electric vehicles or, you guessed it, ebikes. We can all benefit from the shift to more efficient, affordable modes of transportation.

Consider, too, the savings in parking fees, insurance, car payments, wear and tear on the car, etc. These savings have led to many people converting to one-car and one-ebike families. Some have even given up cars altogether in favour of e-bikes, saving thousands of pounds.

Although electric bikes initially seem expensive, there are many ways to make getting your ebike more affordable, including cycle to work schemes and finance options. As a result, many of our customers find that they see a return on their investment in a matter of months.

We have so many great electric bikes in stock at electric bike sales in a wide range of prices that, indeed, we have something for everyone.
