Why Electric Bikes?

Nothing comes close to the exhilarating sensation of riding an electric bike. You feel like a superhero: powerful, fully alive – practically flying!

And because ebikes are so eco-friendly, you’re also a superhero to humanity and the planet itself“. – Eddie Kehoe Director Electric Transport Shop

With an electric bike, you cycle faster and further with less effort, you still have to pedal, but the extra boost you get from the electric motor helps flatten hills, makes the daily commute fun and less sweaty, and best of all, you still get a great work out. Researchers have found that “e-bikes are capable of providing much of the cardiovascular health benefits that conventional bikes provide.”

Cycling in Bristol

It’s no wonder Bristol is gaining a reputation of being one of Europe’s most bike-friendly destinations with cycle lanes on most of its major roads, free-to-use bike pumps around the city, and plenty of places to safely lock up your bike with over 300 cycle parking spaces.

Bristol has something for every cyclist, beautiful riverside country trails for the weekend and an extensive network of city centre cycle lanes for commuters. Cycling certainly is a great way to explore the city.

No Cycle trip to the West country would be complete without Cheddar Gorge. Cheddar Gorge nestled in the Mendip Hills and named as a place of outstanding natural beauty, with its winding roads twisting up through the gorge, guarantee an awe-inspiring ride whatever the weather. The route also crosses Brunnel’s masterpiece, the defining symbol of Bristol, The Clifton Suspension Bridge.

Considered an expert road ride, a high level of fitness is needed UNLESS you have invested in an E-Bike. For some of our most recommended bikes, see below.

Mountainbike Trail – Nova (Ashton Court) (5 Miles)

Mountain bikers have been frequenting Ashton Court since the early 1990s, and in 2002 it was one of the first places in the UK to get an official MTB trail. With multiple tracks, beginners can master the basics, and experienced riders can hone their skills on the red run, which features a pumpy jumpy beginning and a rock-strewn lower section that wouldn’t be out of place on any Downhill track. There are also loads of optional lines dotted around the trail to keep things fresh even after repeated visits.
