The first Earth Day<\/strong> 22 April 1970, when over 20 million people poured on to the US streets to demand protection for our planet’s environment, in what still remains the largest single-day protest in all human history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held annually, Earth Day is now the world’s largest environmental campaign, with up to one billion people now taking action to protect planet earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theme of Earth Day 2021 is Restore Our Earth<\/strong>. This year’s three-day event (20-22 April) will <\/strong>focus on the ever-growing climate emergency, with activities taking place virtually in light of ongoing global Covid-19 restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three days of climate action are due to begin on 20 April, including a global youth climate summit featuring young climate activists and an education summit highlighting the role teachers play in fighting climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
