With roots dating back to 1926, Pashley Cycles is one of the UK’s oldest bicycle and carrier cycles manufacturers and is the last of the historic bike builders still manufacturing in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like everything Pashley, the new ALECS (articulating lightweight electrically-assisted cargo solution) e-Cargo trike is designed and built at the firm’s home in Stratford-upon-Avon, created with an emphasis on durability, style, function, and recyclability. With its lightweight design, the ALECS trike aims to fill a gap in the mid-market and launch a new generation of zero-emission vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Responding to the boom in e-Commerce since the Covid-19 crisis, the ALECS promises to transport cargo in urban environments quickly and efficiently, decreasing pollution and congestion caused by traditional delivery vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to cargo transport, the versatile design is also ideal for on-premises load movement and carrying tools and equipment for tradespeople or service technicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What might appear with a passing glance to be quite a traditional looking bike is a fusion of long-standing and iconic British manufacturing combined with modern technology. The ALECS boasts a number of innovative features. Equipped with the latest electric powered motor assist and battery technology, the ALECS also features a unique tilting mechanism that allows greater cornering stability at speed than trikes of the same size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the stability of a tricycle and the agility of a bicycle, and a narrow wheelbase option the ALECS is ideal for use on cycle lanes and in areas with restricted access making the ALECS the perfect user-friendly solution for a whole range of cyclists and businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winner of the Nick Carpenter Innovation Award, the ALECS is sure to meet the rapidly growing demands of the final-mile delivery market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The design and development of the ALECS were with support and partly funded by the Niche Vehicle Network. Pashley partnered with Simpact Engineering, Reynolds Technology, WMG @ The University of Warwick, and Foresight Innovations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In our urban areas and inner cities, the potential to replace the use of vans, cars and motorcycles for deliveries with a highly efficient, zero-emissions solution that can also reduce congestion is an exciting prospect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
