Progress in Lithium Battery Technology As the electric vehicle (EV) and ebike market continues its rapid growth in both the US and the UK, some exciting news has recently been announced which will have a major effect on the industry. Researchers have developed a new battery system which will allow EVs to be recharged almost instantaneously.  This technology, dubbed the ‘Ifbattery’ by its creators, can be produced cheaply and is environmentally friendly. It uses a system known as a flow battery, but has been adapted to work without the membranes usually used in such units. T..

Fully Charged Show Live from Silverstone

Fully Charged Show Live from Silverstone

June 10th at the Fully Charged Show Live from Silverstone

The show boasts the largest selection of electric cars ever assembled in the UK along with entrepreneurs innovating in the EV space creating solutions more people will need very soon such as charging stations and home energy storage systems.

We were delighted to work with the Fully Charged Show to provide eBike information, advice and test rides. There was such enthusiasm and so many new test ride ‘electric smiles’.

Our test bikes included Haibike, Raleigh, Riese & Muller (with Rolhoff), and Cube and they were going the whole day. Sharing the test track with electric skateboards was a bit of a concern but everyone seemed to weave happily around each other enjoying the nimbleness and control you get from well designed electric bikes.

The most popular bikes on the day were: Riese & Muller Charger; Haibike Trekking and Raleigh Stow-e-way folding electric bike.

Tesla were of course everywhere and the Tesla owners club had a spot showing off their impressive collection and it seems they were able to recharge using the charging infrastructure on display.

Some customised and curious electric vehicles present included:

An electric VW Beetle

A soon to be electric Ferrari along with examples of the TESLA motor to be used

An electric motor fitted and visible

A converted electric Jaguar XJS

My personal favourite the quirky Morgan EV3

The homemade TESLA estate featured on the Fully Charged Show was there

An electric campervan with space for luggage where the dirty engine would have been

Reanult Twizzy – also one of my favourites and one you've probably seen around.

River Simple 3D printed Hydrogen Car

There were also electric motorbikes from Photon, Zero and Saietta that looked pretty funky.

It's unusual to see so many car pics on our blog but at least they are electric and so in a way helping to make the world a better place. This was a car show but I'm sure a lot of people went home feeling that eBikes were one of the stars of the show JMay be we’ll see you next year if not before.
