Kalkhoff pedelecs have become one of the best selling in Europe in a short space of time and they appear to be reinvesting their earnings to develope their products to an even higher level.
In 2011 German based Kalkhoff owner Derby Cycles bought another German company that produced a highly acclaimed crank mounted drive system. The system produced by Daum offered great performance but was extremely ugly and top heavy with their carrier/rack mounted battery. Derby Cycles have transformed the beast into a beautifully sleek system called Kalkhoff Impulse.
The system and inhouse manufacturing allow Kalkhoff to set themselves apart in an increasingly crowded marketplace. The battery specification certainly offers more at the price point than the current Panasonic drive systems out there.
